Rebecca, who runs Winnipeg Style, is one of the influencers with whom we’ve worked closely in the past few years. Based in Winnipeg, Canada, her blog is a full of colors, creativity, and charms of which brightens up my day! Please enjoy Rebecca’s live your color interview featuring Tabbisocks’ Bunny Crew Socks, Heart Back Seam Over the Knees, and I Love Music Knee High.

1. Where did you grow up and how did it shape who you are today?

I grew up in a very small Canadian city located in the province of Manitoba called Selkirk. I grew up in a very supportive family with wonderful parents and grandparents. They always encouraged me to do my best at the things I loved to do. Being given that support really let me embrace my creative side which has helped me to this day.

2. What kind of work does your family do?

One thing I love about my family is not one of us does the same thing. I absolutely love that we are all different and can just just be ourselves. My mom works in a municipal office, my dad is a electrician (this is a very good thing for me as he helped with most of the wiring in my own home! LOL). My husband when he is not my very own talented personal photographer he is a service manager for a local equipment dealership.

3. What inspired you to be a style consultant originally?

I have loved fashion my whole life, even as a young child. I think we all had those moments when we were younger where we loved to play dress up, well I still do play dress up in my own closet to this day! LOL. But there really was one life changing event that happened in my life that started it all. Over 13 years ago my husband and I were in a very serious motorcycle accident. A driver of a truck ran a stop sign crossing the highway and drove into us. We both survived but I ended up breaking most of the bones in the left side of my body. I had many, many surgeries over the years and I was in and out of a wheelchair for a few years as well. I even had to learn to walk again which was a struggle. During all of this one of the things that made me feel a little bit better was putting on a fantastic outfit and going out. I felt like I looked nice and that gave me some of my confidence back. My husband knew that fashion was something that made me happy and he suggested that I make fashion my career. So it all started from there!

4. What are sources of your inspiration for styling?

I find inspiration from my everyday life and the things I see. Sometimes it's the color combination of a flower garden and sometimes it's just how I am feeling that day. Sometimes I see a piece of clothing online or in a store and I immediately get ideas in my head of new and unique outfits I could style with it. I also get some inspiration from retro and vintage styles and I put my own modern spin on it.

5. What's the most important about styling and creating your blog article or Instagram posts and why?

The most important thing about my styling is just being myself. I know that my style may be a bit over the top for some people but if we all dressed the same life would be boring.

6. What kind of new things would you like to try and why?

I would like to do more traveling and visit places that I have never seen before. Getting to see different cultures really influences my creative side personally and professionally.

7. What do you like to do for recreation?

I love going out for dinners and to the movies with my husband and also spending time with my family. When I have some extra time I really enjoy making some fun fascinators to match my outfits. I always make sure to take some time for relaxation. Sometimes I try to do too much and can feel overwhelmed but I know when I take a break from work and blogging I feel refreshed and I get my most creative ideas then.

8. What do you enjoy doing when you're not creating contents or styling and how does it make you feel?

I think my answer in #7 answers this.

9. What do you like most about Winnipeg and why?

I do love living in my city as there is always something going on. There is always a lot of fun stuff to do year round including festivals, museums, concerts, sports and of course shopping. I know a lot of people laugh and say that Winnipeg is so cold in the winter and yes it is, I mean they call us Winterpeg for a reason but that's the fun of living here. We truly do get the full range of all the four seasons.

10. What is your favorite quote to live by and how do you feel about it?

"When you look good, you feel good" It's actually the quote for my business and I do believe that's true. I have helped so many clients over the years with their wardrobe and I can't believe how fantastic they feel about themselves when we are done compared to when we start. It gives them more confidence and it really shows. Something so simple can really be life changing.

11. What does "live your color" mean to you?

Live you color to me means always be who you are and stay true to your own style. The colors I wear are an expression of my personality and I think that shows the world who I am!
